About Cuckfield.Org

Cuckfield is a lively little town - yes, it's a town, despite all outward appearance as a village (more on that later). There are lots of clubs and societies with their own websites, and events organised throughout the year by many of them. There's a thriving business community, a well renowned hotel, several good schools and a wealth of history and character.

Why another website?

This website is a portal and showcase for all that makes Cuckfield in West Sussex such a special place in which to live and work. The intention is to pull together at the very least links to all things Cuckfield. Where organisations don't have a web presence, or would prefer to come under the umbrella of Cuckfield.Org, they are welcome to do so. In time there may be a village diary in which all organisations can publicise their own events, which may help to deconflict, as well as to boost attendances. Suggestions are welcomed, and should be sent to info@cuckfield.org.

Town or village?

Cuckfield has its very own charter, making it a fully fledged town. There are still people living locally who can remember when the Old Police House was a police house, when there were cells and courts in Cuckfield, not to mention both a rural and district council. While retaining the history and pride of a town, Cuckfield appears to many as a peaceful, charming and welcoming village. Does it really matter? Well, this website takes no view. So long as people live in peace with their neighbours it will remain a pleasant place to live no matter.

Finally, this website is pleased to be the host to, and to be supported by, The Cuckfield Society.
