Sunday 7th

London to Brighton Veteran Car Run
Commemorating the Emancipation Run of 14 November 1896 which celebrated the passing into law of the Locomotives on the Highway Act, which raised the speed limit for 'light locomotives' from 4 mph to 14 mph and abolished the requirement for these vehicles to be preceded by a man on foot. Not a race but an endurance of man and machine the annual event today attracts some 500 automobiles with an eligibility criteria that requires the cars to be of four or three wheel design and certified that their build took place prior to the 1 January 1905

Time: from about 10.30am

Tuesday 9th

North Downs Circular walk, 7 miles
Walkers may long to escape our local mud in the High Weald at this time of year. The North Downs can be (almost) mud-free and this walk joins sections of the Greensands Way, Pilgrims Way and North Downs Way under and along the North Downs with 875m of ascent and descent. Meet at Margery Woods car park, north of Reigate for a 10.40hr start. Please bring picnic lunch. From the Mid Sussex Ramblers' programme (www.midsussexramblers.co.uk) the walk is lead by Peter, tel. 01444 415367

Time: 10.40hr Margery Wood car park

Thursday 11th

Cuckfield Circular Walk, 6 miles
On this day the theme of the walk is "Wars" - the Normans, Napoleonic, Boer, WW1, WW2 and the Cold War. We look at places and events that wars impacted. With 530 feet of ascent and descent the walk is from the Mid Sussex Ramblers' programme, lead by Peter and is free of charge. Further details from Peter at 01444 415367

Time: 10.00am from Broad Street CP.

Saturday 20th

Beaujolais Brunch - The Old School Cuckfield
Join us for the ever popular Beaujolais Brunch. This year we are delighted to announce that we will be joined by The Mayor of Aumale and a small party from Aumale. Fred Roche will bring with them some good Beaujolais (what is he suggesting?) for us to try plus a few bottles of wine from Anjou and Touraine. He will also provide some interesting local cheeses, one of which is almost certain to be the very distinctive Neufchatel variety. This is a great opportunity to reinvigorate our relationship with Aumale. Tickets are £8 in advance (from Wealdon Stores and Windowscene) and £10 on the door. Admission price includes a hearty ploughman's lunch and musical accompaniment in addition to Fred's wine and cheese tasting. Fine wine will be available to purchase by the glass or bottle.

Time: 11:30 am - 2:00 pm
