Village Show 2010

2010 Cuckfield Village Show

The Cuckfield Society held their 5th Village Show of horticulture, floral art, food and arts & crafts on Saturday 11 September at Cuckfield Park. Despite the damp weather, the village turned out in force to view the exhibits on show in the marquee and to enjoy tea and homemade cakes provided by the WI whilst they listened to the talents of the Mid Sussex Brass Band. Overall Show Winner was Jennifer Constable who showed prowess in both food & drink and horticulture. A new award was also given this year in honour of Cuckfield Resident and preserve making legend Aileen Craigen who sadly passed away last month. The Aileen Craigen award for best preserve was fittingly awarded to Aileen's neighbour Bridget Rice for her Blackberry Jam.

Chair of the organising committee Jo Roche was delighted with the quality and quantity of exhibits at this year's show and said: "a lot of hard work goes in to staging the show and we are so pleased that it has already become a highlight in the calendar for the village. The Cuckfield Society could not run the show without the help of so many wonderful volunteers and especially without the generosity of Bryan & Sue Mayou who freely give us the use of their land at Cuckfield Park". No sooner has the marquee come down before plans are being made for next year's show and you are invited to visit cuckfield.org for more information.
