children's cupcake course
A week of cupcake courses for those aged 9 and over.

Each course runs for 2.5 hours and caters for all levels of ability. Workshops are held in my Cuckfield kitchen with a maximum of 5 attendees ensuring there is enough one-on-one for each child.

All ingredients, tools and equipment are provided, attendees just need to bring an apron. There is some sharing of food mixers but all attendees work independently most of the time. Boxes of cakes wing their way home to be oohed and aahed over by friends and family before being eaten!

Workshops cost £25 each however a 10% discount is applied for: returning pupils: more than one workshop booked per child in August 2013 siblings attending in the same week. This is not a cumulative discount!

Teams are £5, Maximum 5 people per team, half money raised to winner and half to Leanne's mayoral fund.

Cuckfield Nuclear Bunker Open Day!
In the field to the East of the Church, along Newbury Lane is a long forgotten Royal Observer Corps Radiation Monitoring Post. The site played a vital role during both WW2 and the Cold War and was active till 1991. The post was restored and fully equipped in 2009 by Mark Russell and Edward Combes and is opened a few times a year for the public. It takes the form of a small underground nuclear shelter access by a 15ft vertical ladder. Come and see how the warning of nuclear attack was sounded to the public, how radiation was monitored and how the observers would have lived underground. Also find out about the wartime role of the site and handle various pieces of equipment. To get to the Post, walk along Newbury Lane and follow the signs saying 'Cuckfield Nuclear Bunker'. Please park in the village centre car parks if possible to avoid blocking Newbury Lane, its a lovely walk down from the village. Please do not drive down the bridle path as there is no area to turn around. Sensible shoes are recommended, and we reserve the right to refuse entry to people we feel would be unsuitable to descend/ascend the ladder. Having said that the youngest person has been 9 and the oldest 88! On Ansty Recreation Ground, Deaks Lane, free entry and free parking! Have a go at archery and pony rides, see real live owls, watch the dog agility demonstration, enter the fun dog show and children's races, listen to the live Irish band, eat the hog roast and cake and drink beer, tea or coffee and you might even win a fabulous prize in the tombola or raffle with prizes donated by amazing local businesses! what better way to spend a bank holiday monday?
